Anthony Robbins is in Australia next month! If I wasn’t so busy I’d register to hear one of his seminars - hey it’s FREE! Needless to say though, if you go, be prepared to be brainwashed out of a couple of grand before you’ve finished the seminar.
I first heard of this guy from the Shallow Hal movie where he hypnotises Jack Black so that he sees the inner beauty outside. Hmm.. must be someone famous, I thought. As it turns out he’s a motivational speaker and has been so for Andre Agassi, Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Margaret Thatcher, and millions of other people.
This guy basically went from a Janitor, earning $40 a week, to multimillionaire by harnessing his verbal diarrhea. I flipped through a recent magazine article on him and copied down a couple of his quotes…
“My job is not so much to motivate people as it is to uncover the philosophy of life, the model of the world that is working for them so they can shape their own destiny and go beyond what they are today to an even more fulfilling and truly extraordinary life.”
“I don’t consider failing or succeeding as an endpoint. Instead I look at how I can give the most empowering meaning to every situation I face. We can use setbacks as excuses to quit something for good, or we can use ‘temporary’ failure as a fuel to move us toward fulfillment. If you start to look at failure as a gift, like all people who live meaningful lives, you begin to see injustice as challenges; ends as beginnings; and setbacks as opportunities to be even better.”
He said all this in an interview…! How does he spin these on the fly..? It just goes to show if you do something long enough, you can get very very good at it.
