FreeServing.com - Grand Idea #1 is hatched

I’ve been working on this one for the last few days. The idea is not original but it follows the concepts I’ve been posting up on so far.

• It’s something I like doing so it’s worthwhile even if it never takes off
• It’s relatively low cost so I’m risking my time and not my money
• I’ll be building a valuable asset so it doesn’t really need to be profitable (but it needs to be popular!)

I figured, if google can provide free email, if blogger can provide free blogs, if flickr can provide free photo hosting, if youtube can provide free video streaming, why can’t I provide free hosting?

There’s heaps of free hosts already, but most of them force ads, or have minimum quotas on forum hosting. I’m going to do straight free hosting and rely on my sales skills (??) to bring in paid advertising to the main site. Hopefully, I can generate enough interest to make the site popular and the popularity can feed on itself and bring in the ad sales. Well, that’s the theory. Many people have tried it, but I don’t think anyone has truly suceeded.

My mission: to be the next google of hosting - Ubiquitous for FREE hosting! (Hey, most successful businesses start with a seemingly stupid dream/idea!)

Shouldn’t be too hard to sell, really - It’s free!! I’m still working on a few things, like setting up a payment method, the terms of service, a dedicated server provider (etc.,etc., …), but feel free to support me and visit the site:

I haven’t started marketing this yet, so you, as readers of this blog, get first dip. If you have a domain, sign up on the forum, and when I’m ready, I’ll hook you up with a free hosting account. (I’m aiming to have everything ready by the end of this week. )

Off topic, the shares have gone nowhere - MYOB is still hovering around 90cents, and Telstra just posted their worst profit in the history of their ASX listing. I’m in for the long haul, though, and I still think they’re good buys.

This blog, on the other hand, is exceeding my early expectations. I’m now on the front page google search results for “Tattslotto forumlas” and “quote by emil coue”!! - yay! And lastly, my adsense money has skyrocketed to a whole $4.06!! (Good to see someone other than me is clicking on the ads on this site :D )
