Right. So I’ve got my site all set up and geared to earn me money. The homepage is set. People can buy links 24/7. This blog’s theme looks good (at least I think so) and the adsense is tuned. What I need now is traffic - lots of traffic. This is the usual problem that 99.999% of webmasters face. How do you drive traffic to your site?
I’m still learning so I’m compiling a list of ways that I’ve discovered… This will be a fluid list as I will be updating it as I learn.
- Tell your family, friends, collegues, anyone you know
- Tell your online friends
- Contribute to an active online community and have a link to your site in your signature
- Use a social networking site. Eg. sign up to MySpace, create a profile, add some friends, and links to your site. MySpace is really slow for me, it’s super clunky, and I just don’t get it. For some reason though, it’s really popular so here’s my space
- Post to a mailing list, eg. Yahoo discussion groups
- Post comments on popular blogs.
- Submit to some free link directories or good paid ones.
- Buy advertising. Eg.
- Start a blog and set it to ping aggregation sites so your blog shows up on sites like Technorati. People will be able to randomly find you
- Write good content. Write it and they will come…
- Added 16/10/06: Upload a great YouTube video and share it with everyone. Not convinced? Just check out LonelyGirl15 and the amount of publicity she’s generated!
- Added 20/10/06: If you have an interesting article / concept / news, try to get dugg or slashdotted - beware of the slashdot effect though!
The trouble is… a blog about making money really needs to make money in order to start a internet frenzy. If the links thing takes off, then this blog will surely also get a lot of attention. I sold another $6 worth this week so I’m over the $10 mark! woohoooo…! $999,987.33 til a $million :D

- Who do you want to attract? Hint: intelligent people comprise 5% of the population, average people 30%, dumbkoffs 65%. I doubt if they share the same interests.
Try to get dugg…
Might want to add that.
