Since I posted the Farewell Email from the ex - JP Morgan employee, some of you have found my site by googling “farewell email”, for which I’m sitting nice and pretty on 7th spot on the first page. What’s all this fuss about farewell emails? To not disappoint, I’ve done some digging around for some goss about that legendary farewell email from the ex JP Morgan guy.
It seems that this JP Morgan guy actually plagarised most of his text from the net! Earlier this year, Cian Kelliher (ex Ernst and Young in Dublin) wrote almost exactly the same email for his departing speech. He adds a nice personal touch:
To Linda: Best wishes on your ongoing campaign to popularize these “email forwards.” I sincerely hope you receive that weekend full of good luck, that hug from an old friend, and that baby for your dusty womb.
ooo… low blow!
Anyway.. as it turns out both these guys copied a fictitious farewell email written by Chris Kula, a comedy writer in New York City. This was written in August 22 2005! You can see by comparing the emails, the JP Morgan guy’s is much longer and he’s actually improved the overall email a bit by adding some personal touch with the scotch and the meets expectations cigar, as well as including a dig at upper management for good measure.
