Maltese Dog makes me money

I’m proud to report that my Maltese Dog site has climbed to number 13 on the google search results for “Maltese Dog”..! What does this mean? Being on the second page of google is bringing in about 15 unique visitors per day. That’s not a lot but with search engine traffic, the visitors are really searching for information and the google adsense ads are almost perfectly targetted for them. This has translated to a high click through rate (well, higher by comparison to my other sites anyway) and it is bringing in a regular low stream of income. As the site gets older and I add more and more content to it, I’m hoping it will register even better with google and other search engines.

So far, other than “Maltese Dog”, the site is also bringing in traffic for 200 different keywords including

  1. leaving maltese alone
  2. bathing a maltese
  3. care of maltese dog
  4. maltese health
  5. bad tempered maltese puppy
  6. are maltese dogs good

… you get the idea. The site hasn’t showed up at all on Yahoo or MSN. I can only speculate that they have a high skewing towards the age of domains - ie. I may have to wait over a year before I get any love. Lucky Google owns 80% of the web search market :)

    Congrats!

Just out of curiosity, what is 15 unique visitors with high click through earning you a day?

btw.. as I write this (12am Taiwan time), maltesedog.net is returning an error 404 :-(. The DNS resolves to 210.14.110.36, which is coming back fine (to Servers Australia)

hmmm. that’s wierd because maltesedog is on the same server as this blog. Thanks anyway. :)

Income from MalteseDog is definitely less than $1 a day… but hey every cent counts… and the best part is that it just sits there perpetually. Hopefully Google will also perpertually rank it high on the serps. At the moment it’s sitting pretty as the first entry on the second page for “Maltese Dog”. I’m not sure whether it’s better to be first on the second page of last on the first page - I’m sure I’m about to find out though hehehe
