MillionDollarWiki.com makes a great use of the wiki editor feature and rather than selling pixels, they sell whole pages. Nifty! Think it’s a stupid idea? Who would spend $100 for a single page? Well, it’s only been a couple of months and the Million Dollar Wiki has managed to sell 235 links making it roughly $23,500. I say roughly because they managed to auction out the Business page for US$6,100 to a bidder going by the name of youngspring. See the eBay auction here.
Like all million dollar wannabe’s, however, when the hypes over, the traffic just completely dries out. Just look at the LinkExperiment. After a great start, their run finally stopped at $14,161.

The idea has really caught on, though, and there’s loads of copy cats already. (See Own A Page and Live My Word). You can’t stop wondering if Alex Tew (of MillionDollarHomepage fame) had started this wiki pages idea rather than his failed pixelotto, it would certainly have hit the million dollar mark by now. Even his ‘failed’ pixelotto has managed to reel in $152,200.
From its alexa graph, I think the milliondollarwiki may have reached maximum potential already…

Nonethess, I still think it’s a great idea. His problem though, is his domain name. Having ‘Million Dollar’ in the domain just puts people right off these days and the site ads no value to the already overcrowded net scape. The wiki sites are a cinch to make - Just install MediaWiki and throw in a nice Wiki theme. I’ve dreamed up a brilliant copy already…! hehe

I think your alexa graph for my site needs to be updated.
You might need to rethink your “I think the milliondollarwiki may have reached maximum potential already” statement, Check out the current alexa graph for the Million Dollar Wiki.
Unlike the MDHomepage, the MillionDollarWiki has users. Some of them attract a little traffic and it adds up. It will take more then a few days for it to die out.
Looks like John Chow has spiked up the MDWiki charts… nice!
Wait until you see the next spike
