A couple of weeks ago I noticed this little sign on Problogger.com

It’s a Godaddy expiration page. I’ve never had any luck grabbing ‘almost’ expired domains so I didn’t waste any money trying to back order it. Turned out to be a good move because now it seems the owners (11pixel.com) have re-registered and put it up for auction on ebay. I was going to put this post up the moment I saw the auction cos I thought there’d be more than a few readers interested in the dot com domain of Darren Rowse’s popular blog Problogger.net. Darren’s from Sydney and from reading a few of his posts, he seems to be a nice guy, so I refrained from posting earlier - lest I jack up the auction war.
The auction’s only just ended and I was eagerly awaiting the result to see what the domain would be worth… or more over, to see what Darren would pay for his dot com. It was stuck at $1000 for a few days with only a couple of hundred page views. I was thinking… hmmm.. maybe Darren doesn’t know. Maybe I can snap it up for a bargain. Alas, the auction has ended and the final bid of $4,050.00 just didn’t cut it for Mr. Matt Winkler and the 11pixel folks. I tried emailing (from my anonymous yahoo account of course) to ask them what their reserve was but either there was no response or it’s lost somewhere in my junk filter.
What would you have paid for Problogger.com? Not only is it a great domain name (well almost as good as Brilliances.com) but it would be quite easy to piggy back off Darren’s success. At its current undeveloped, under construction state, it is already ranked under 150,000 on Alexa

it was definiately and interesting auction to watch wasn’t it :-)
Hehehe. I bet you were more than just ‘watching’. I was very surpised not many people bidded for it. Poor socialising effort on Matt’s behalf, me thinks.
