Results for being on John Chow’s RSS

For the month of September, I’ve been sponsoring John Chow’s RSS feed to boost up some awareness for the Hottest Girl Online and Enwikopedia - I think I was the only advertiser to make him work for his money by requiring him to manually rotate my ads (and I think he stuffed up once or twice). Anyway, so it cost me US$200 and from what I can tell, brought in about 200 unique visitors to the sites (in total). This is at a cost of $1 per visitor which is fairly steep for me because the sites are no where near optimised enough to achieve that return. What’s worst for me is that John’s post count for September was probably his lowest its been for the past year - I attribute this to him being google slapped and he’s still going through a state of shock. Well anyway, with such a abysmal return and a post count that was no where near the 100+ that he quoted for his sales pitch, I contemplated about asking for a refund. I emailed him and let him know my disappointment in his post rate. He responded by saying that he’ll run my ad in October for free - that’s was good enough for me!

In further news, my server has really shat itself these past two days. I’d like to attribute this to my growing popularity and my high serp’ing sites but it’s more likely to do with overcrowding on my shared hosting plan. This really sux because it’s ruined my experiment to get the web-hosting-reviews.net site indexed by google in 24 hours. Chances are that the googlebot came and saw a dead host. bummer.

My host is in the process of moving people to other servers so until then, it’s going to be a bit choppy for the next couple of days…
