The Best of Digg 2007

Digg is a great melting pot of interesting stuff. Whilst it doesn’t always have great articles and is often inunadated with useless crap, I’ve come up with my fav Diggs for 2007.

  1. Turn Google into your own personal free napster
It’s a very clever use of googles search commands

    -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “Nirvana”

  2. Pictures of Geek Culture

    What an awesome monitor!

  3. Screen Vader

    How’s this for a 3D menu interface?

  4. Crash Test Videos

Ever wanted to see what your car would look like if a dummy drove it into a wall? This site has over 150 videos of crash tests… including slow motion footage!

  5. Amusing Camera shots

A collection of funny photos taken in well positioned angles

    statue basketball shot

  6. Amazing Wallpapers

And best of all, they are free!

    Exploding Water

  7. Kevin Mitnick’s Business Card

Kevin Mitnick’s is a notorious hacker so what better to put on a business card than a break-out lock picking kit. Ingenious!

  8. How to get a free iPhone

I’m not sure if this was set up or not but this kid was paid $800 for his spot at the front of the iphone queue cos the lady wanted to be first and buy out all the iphones in the store. Only trouble was that Apple only allowed one iphone per customer. To complete things, the kid has two other friends in the queue so he still ends up getting an iphone anyway.. and walks away with some change. It pays to be first :)

  9. The iPhone is a piece of *^&*
Maddox lets rip at the iPhone. In case you haven’t heard of him before, Maddox has a cult like following for his ‘best page in the universe’. Basically he blogs infrequently but when he does, he makes up some pretty good piss.

  10. Digg This: 09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63-56-88-c0

And finally, what would a Digg list be without some Digg controvesy from Kevin Rose…

after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be.

If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying.
